Supervision, Coaching and Wellbeing Support for Teaching Staff and Students

I’ve worked in schools and alongside students and teaching staff in various capacities since 2004. From my early days as an SEN Learning Support Assistant, to a paediatric occupational therapist, mental health consultant, in-service trainer and senior lecturer, I understand only too well the pressures of working in the education system.

As such, I have developed the following services aimed at providing support for frazzled teachers and the unique young people you work with, to help you and your school shine at its brightest.

Every school’s needs, structures and systems are different. I therefore like to work in a bespoke and collaborative way, offering a free initial consultation to explore how I might best be able to offer you and your school some targeted support.

Support for Teachers

I offer a variety of options in supporting teaching staff to feel energised, empowered and at their best. The following options are a guide for you to choose from, but can be shaped and adapted to fit you and your school:

  • 1:1 staff supervision and wellbeing coaching

  • Small group reflective practice

  • Therapeutically informed Yoga for wellbeing

Support for Students

I currently work alongside a number of state and private schools offering both targeted and holistic mental health support for students. Drawing on a my experience as Head of Health Promotion at a large young peoples’ mental health charity, my student work is therapeutically informed, grounded in evidence and I specialise in generalised anxiety, low mood, suicidality and school refusal.

Suggested support I could provide your students:

  • 1:1 wellbeing coaching - Structured with therapeutically-informed tasks, practical activities and thought experiments, these sessions aim to empower students to have confidence in the face of life’s challenges, gain insights into their behaviours and develop core emotional literacy skills in a relaxed, engaging and enjoyable way. These can be delivered in-school or online.

  • Targeted group workshops - Specially designed for students who are facing specific life challenges or periods of transition. For example, exam stress, the transition into a new school year / life stage or the transition from primary to secondary school for Year 6 and 7 pupils.

  • Therapeutically informed yoga and fitness - These sessions work well as an accessible alternative to more traditional forms of therapy. As well as being a registered Occupational Therapist I am a fully qualified fitness and yoga instructor and have developed a programme of therapeutically informed yoga workshops for teens. These have a strong focus on mental wellbeing and are built on the foundational principles of sensory integration and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with the aim of building confidence and strength both inside and out.
